Mr. Sen was impeached by the lower house or Rajya Sabha last month, following which the Justice had submitted resignation from the current post. There was a similar scheduled to be organized at the Lok Sabha in the coming session. Although the legal advice confirm that there wouldn't be a need for further proceedings but there are political voices strong to continue with the proceedings.
The official sources mentioned " The Department of Justice had sent out a notification to the assent of the president for acceptance of resignation of Justice Soumtira Sen and this was signed by her as soon as she was back from Hyderabad".
The notification has been sent to Miera Kumar, the hon'able speaker to Loksabha and she will be consulting with various political and legal advisers before the meeting of Lok Sabha happens on Monday.
